🎬 There are two arks in the Holy Torah — Noah’s and Moses’. Between them runs a connection the holy books reveal: the soul of Moses was impregnated within the soul of Noah. Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, shows what Noah lost the moment he said “I am fine” — and why Moses refused to repeat it.
Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, opens with two arks. Noah builds his for over a hundred years while the Holy One is about to bring the flood. Moses’ mother makes the second — putting pitch on the outside, while Noah put it inside and outside. And the holy books — Megaleh Amukot among them — reveal the bond: the soul of Moses was impregnated within the soul of Noah. That is why the Torah testifies of Noah, “a righteous man, perfect in his generations, Noah walked with G-d” — the spark of Moses was within him. The Midrash even notes that “beshegam” carries the numerical value of Moshe, and that man lived one hundred and twenty years — the years of Moses.
But then came the flood. G-d tells Noah the world is sinning, and Noah answers: I am fine, my family is fine, my children are fine. He does not pray. He does not sacrifice himself for the collective. He builds, he enters, he is saved — and the moment he acted that way, the impregnation of Moses’ soul left him. He came out a man of the soil. Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, then sets the mirror: after the Golden Calf, G-d tells Moses “Leave Me alone that I may destroy them” and offers to build a great nation from him alone. Moses refuses — because he saw what happened to Noah. He prays, he cries, he will not save himself while the world is destroyed. That is why the flood is called the Waters of Noah: he could have prayed, and perhaps stopped it.
