💰 A segula for great livelihood all week long — hidden in the last minutes of Shabbat. Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a (Shuva Israel), reveals what Abudraham and the holy Chida teach.
The source of this virtue, says Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, is in the Rishonim. Our Rabbi the Chida brings it and writes in the name of Abudraham — Rabbi David Abudraham, one of the Rishonim on whom the Shulchan Aruch relies very strongly. He writes in the order of the conclusion of Shabbat: “It was the custom in Provence to say at the conclusion of Shabbat Ein Keloheinu and Pitom HaKetoret, because it was taught in Yoma that a person never repeated Pitom HaKetoret” — as it says, “they shall put incense before You” — to support “May the Lord bless your substance,” in order, says Abudraham, “to become wealthy and succeed in all our ways.” It was also in the book Orchot Chaim by our Rabbi Aaron of Lunel, who adds that Pitom HaKetoret enriches all who engage in it, and that merely mentioning it also enriches.
In the book Tziporen Shamir, writes Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, the holy Chida records the great virtue of saying Pitom HaKetoret and the intention it requires, copying from the holy Zohar several virtues — it brings all kinds of success. Yet he adds that a person must intend this for the honor of the Blessed Name and not for his own benefit. So Abudraham, the Chida and the great ones of the world say: at the conclusion of Shabbat be careful to say Ein Keloheinu, Ein Keadoneinu and Pitom HaKetoret — this gives a person immense merit and immense power for livelihood. Do not say, “I am doing this so that God will give me livelihood” — say, “I am doing this for the sake of the Blessed Name, for the sake of Heaven.” The Holy One, Blessed be He, wants to give livelihood — He will give. But in Ein Keloheinu and Pitom HaKetoret at the conclusion of Shabbat there is a very great power.
