There are seasons in the year when the heavens are open in a different way, and this is one of them — the time of Moses our Teacher. Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, teaches that the greater a person’s cleaving to the Holy One, blessed be He, the more he merits salvation and heavenly help, and that the doorway to that cleaving is the Torah of Moses: “Remember the Torah of Moses My servant.”
Rabbi Pinto points to one book in particular — Deuteronomy, the Book of Devarim — and calls it a power without equal, a force through which a person can reach any attainment possible in life. Cling to it, he says, and a person can pass through nine hundred and fifty-five gates in heaven to reach every salvation that exists. He speaks not in theory: in his own life, through the hardest illness and the most difficult trials, he witnessed salvations that no mind can grasp — the power of Deuteronomy, the power of Moses our Teacher.
