🎬 Silence is stronger than speaking. Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, takes one sentence and turns it into a whole way of living: what you do with the person who wronged you, and what you do with the impulses inside you.
When someone fights with you, says Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, you behave with dignity. Even if he treated you badly — you give him a gift, you treat him well, and you yourself remain a very good person. He is the one who acted foolishly. The moment you answer in kind, you have handed him the keys to your own character.
Then comes the deeper point. A person must not be led by his inner impulses — “inner impulses are the great, great, great trap of a person’s life.” Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, says a person should look through the lens of Torah, the lens of truth, the lens of real fear of Heaven — and then his life is a different life, and his reality becomes a different reality.
