Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, teaches that drawing people closer to repentance must be done with wisdom — with love, not fear.
Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, teaches that when you bring people closer to repentance, you must know how to do it with wisdom.
Do not speak to them about death, do not speak to them about hell — speak to them about good things, so that they come with love.
Torah and repentance, Rabbi Pinto says, are like a display window: put beautiful garments in the window and people will see, be drawn, and run after you with love. Do not scare them. Do not shout, “You are wicked, you are thieves.” Instead say: “You are good, you are righteous — you simply need to understand more.” A soft tongue draws the heart, not blows.
