If a person were to accept the situation that the Holy One, Blessed be He, placed him in life, and say: “I know that this is what is best for me, I know that this is what is special for me” — then he could not risk everything that he has. But if a person thinks that he is nothing, and that the life path he has gone through is full of mistakes, full of errors and full of difficult things, then he considers himself something of less value, something small, something without rights. Rabbi Yoel Moshe Pinto, shlita, shows how that single self-judgment becomes the doorway to losing everything.
Then, Rabbi Yoel Moshe Pinto, shlita continues, the person takes upon himself the risk — to lose everything that he has. But if a person values himself, and knows that everything he has gone through was with great precision — everything he went through, the Holy One, Blessed be He, planned, and wanted it to be so, and it is part of the success story, part of the whole journey, part of the puzzle that connects a person’s life — then he is not willing to risk everything that he has. He is not willing to make a mistake, not willing to commit a sin, not willing to do something difficult. So what is it that gives birth to all of this? What creates all the sins, all the difficult things, all the terrible things a person does? The lack of joy and the lack of confidence that a person has in his past — in who he was, in what he has done until today.
