🎬 Noah was born sealed with the covenant — whole like an unblemished citron. Abraham came into the world with a foreskin and entered the covenant later. Yet Abraham is the tzaddik and Noah only the tamim. Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, draws the line in under a minute.
The tamim is the whole etrog: nothing missing, nothing added, complete exactly as it came into the world, holding both taste and scent. That is Noah — a righteous man, tamim in his generations, born already whole like a perfect citron. He did not have to become anything; he arrived complete. The tzaddik is Abraham. He came with a foreskin — something lacking — and then took hold of himself and entered the covenant. The tzaddik is not the one born whole; he is the one who became whole.
