Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, opens with a blessing for all the beloved and dear ones: that the Holy One, blessed be He, grant us all salvation and joy, success and great divine assistance. He then brings the teaching of our holy rabbis — Rabbi Chaim Palagi expands on it — that the tenth of Cheshvan is the day on which Gad, son of our forefather Jacob, was born.
And it is known what our holy rabbis say of Gad: Gad brings good fortune. On this day there is great fortune for Israel. Therefore, says Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, any person who has a business matter — or any matter at all — that he begins or completes on the tenth of Cheshvan draws a power of fortune from the abundance and influence of the tribe of Gad. May it be His will that the Holy One blesses all our work, establishes our efforts, and grants us divine assistance, peace of mind and great success.
