🎬 The world runs day after day, and slowly we lose the point of it. People keep mitzvot today with self-sacrifice — and yet something is missing. Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, goes to the verse “For I have known him” and shows what the Holy One means when He says He knows a person.
“For I have known him” is not “I know about you.” It is the knowing of “Adam knew Eve” — becoming one part with the thing known. The Holy One testifies that Abraham’s faith became one with Him, and therefore Abraham will command his children after him. Our Sages say the Patriarchs are the chariot of the Divine Presence: light descends from Heaven and needs a vessel, and the righteous person is that vessel. Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, presses the point — a mitzvah done outside that chariot may be a nice deed, but it is not a perfect mitzvah, because it is not drawing from the source of blessing.
Then come the trials. If the Holy One knows the end from the beginning, why test at all? The image is a man hiring a CEO on a one-year trial: every crisis that year is not suspicion, it is training. A trial is not only for the One who tests — it is for you to become able. Every trial has a start date and an end date; pass it and you rise a level, fail it and you break your own world. Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, ends with King David: “The L-rd has surely disciplined me, but He has not given me over to death.” If you can withstand it, death will not come — despair is what ends a person, not the trial.

12:45 — In the Divine Presence, holiness, and the Torah. Mistakes happen, but when
13:30 — Even if you do a little, but it is perfect for the Holy One, Blessed
14:15 — Justice, ensuring they walk in his righteous path. But when someone strays
15:00 — The trials and troubles the holy patriarchs endured were simply to
15:45 — Would withstand all the trials. So why was it necessary to test him?
