Yesterday, the ancient stones of the Western Wall (Kotel HaMaaravi) bore witness to an awe-inspiring, historic gathering that will remain etched in the spiritual annals of the Jewish people. In an extraordinary display of faith and unity, tens of thousands of Jews from every walk of life converged at the heart of Jerusalem to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our revered teacher and spiritual guide, Maran the Admor, Grand Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit”a.
The massive assembly combined three monumental spiritual forces into one unified, unforgettable night: the Global Siyum (completion) of the Holy Zohar, the dedication of a new Holy Torah Scroll (Hachnasat Sefer Torah), and an emotionally charged Midnight Selichot service.
The Convergence of Three Great Spiritual Pillars
As midnight approached, the Kotel plaza swelled with an immense sea of souls. The energy throughout the evening was sustained by three sacred milestones:

The Global Siyum of the Holy Zohar: The culmination of tens of thousands of volumes of the Holy Zohar, studied throughout the year by followers, students, and seekers across the globe. Through this collective devotion, the sacred merit of the Divine Tanna, Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, was invoked—relying on the timeless teaching that “Rabbi Shimon is worthy to be relied upon in times of pressing need.”

The Welcoming of a Holy Torah Scroll (Hachnasat Sefer Torah): Welcoming a newly written, pristine Sefer Torah to Jerusalem with vibrant song and reverence, reaffirming our eternal commitment to Hashem’s covenant.

Midnight Selichot of Repentance and Yearning: The soul-stirring chorus of tens of thousands crying out in unified prayer—chanting the Thirteen Attributes of Divine Mercy (Yud-Gimmel Middot HaRachamim) and begging for mercy, health, peace, and salvation for all of Am Yisrael.
Reviving and Elevating a Century-Old Decree
The global study of the Holy Zohar carried a profound historical significance. Nearly a century ago, during one of the most turbulent periods in the land of Israel, the greatest luminaries of Jerusalem—including the righteous Gaon Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld and Chief Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen Kook, of blessed memory—instituted a special decree (takana): to complete 1,000 books of the Holy Zohar to invoke Heavenly protection and avert harsh decrees.
In our generation, this ancient initiative was revived and elevated to unprecedented heights by the visionary leadership of Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto and his son and successor, Rabbi Yoel Moshe Pinto, shlit”a. What once was a monumental challenge of completing 1,000 books has expanded exponentially under their guidance into tens of thousands of books studied daily and completed annually across the entire globe.
A Living Demonstration of Pure Unity (Achdut)
Beyond the prayers and rituals, the defining hallmark of the night was pure, unadulterated Jewish unity.
At a time when public discourse is often strained by division and political strife, the Shuva Israel movement proved once again that true strength lies in brotherhood, loving-kindness (chesed), and spiritual elevation. As the Rabbi’s disciples, Eli Ben-Isti and Ben-Zion Atia, expressed during their national radio addresses: “We do not look at labels, politics, or division. We do not categorize any Jew. We see only the light of the soul, the beauty of the Torah, and daily acts of chesed.”
To facilitate this historic gathering, a massive logistical operation mobilized hundreds of buses from every corner of the country. From the bustling streets of Tel Aviv and Ramat Gan to the north and the south, Jews from religious, traditional, and secular backgrounds came together as one family, united in prayer and purpose.
A Beacon of Hope for the Year Ahead
The atmosphere at the Western Wall yesterday reached its peak when Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto offered heartfelt blessings for the protection of our soldiers, the healing of the sick, and peace throughout the Land of Israel.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the tens of thousands who took part in this sanctification of Hashem’s Name (Kiddush Hashem).
