🎬 A very wealthy man decided to give a large part of his money to one person: someone with no hope and no future in life. He went to the hospitals, to the places of the poor, and wandered the country for a month. Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, tells what he found — and what it means for you.
He found nobody. Everyone he met still had a future. So he asked a certain man where such people could be found, and was told: only in a cemetery. He went there, and among the beggars he saw a disheveled man with long hair and dirty clothes — a man who looked like he had nothing — and offered him a large sum to rebuild his life. The man answered: I have hope, I have a future. Who has no future and no hope? Only the dead. Go and find a dead person and give him the money. Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, brings the end of the story: the rich man buried the money beside the grave of the youngest child in the cemetery.
Years passed, the rich man lost everything and had nothing to eat. He remembered the money, went at night to dig, and the police caught him. He was brought before the judge — and the judge began to cry. Do you know who I am? I am the man who told you that every person has hope. There is no reality in the world in which a person has no hope, in which a person cannot overcome anything, in which everything is closed. It may be closed as a test, as a punishment, as something from Heaven — but nothing stands against a person who refuses to give up. Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, closes with the principle: in whatever situation a person is, they can break it and turn it around — and the harder the problem, and the more abnormal it seems, the more supernatural the salvation will be. As long as you are alive, you have hope.
