🎬 A person is partial to himself: he has his own interests, and he is willing to see another’s ruin as long as he himself is all right. Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, tells the parable of two friends and reveals the human flaw at the root of it.
Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, describes a person who is partial to himself: he has his own interests, and he is willing to see another’s ruin as long as he himself is okay. Two friends — one asks the other for advice: “Advise me, what is better to do — this way or that way?” The man says, “I advise you to do this.” In the end he did something else, and he failed.
Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a, reveals the flaw: the man’s heart is glad — “See? He didn’t listen to me; he deserved it.” Why? Because a person is partial to himself and always thinks he is right. And if a person has an interest, he is willing for another to lose everything for his own small gain.
