After He created it all, the Holy One gathered the whole universe and said: “Let us create something unique in the world, let us create the very best — and let everything in the universe contribute to it.” Be bold as the leopard — the leopard gave boldness; light as the eagle; brave as the lion. Why do we say Perek Shira on Sunday at Shuva Israel? Because man is the representative of all creation. If you are good, all the animals are good, all the livestock is good, all the birds are good, the whole world is good — for all creation is included and dwells within you, explains Rabbi Yoshiyahu Yosef Pinto, shlit’a. If you are good, you elevate all creation; if you are bad, you lower all creation. Your deeds bring you close, your deeds distance you. You are good — all creation rises; you are bad — all creation declines.
